Natures Wonder Fiber
Cotton remains the most miraculous fiber under the sun even after over 8,000 years. No other fiber comes close to duplicating all of the desirable characteristics of cotton. It has many uses but for our purposes, sheets and towels.
Properties:
1. Breathable and temperature regulating:
2. Moisture wicking
3. Skin friendly
4. Easy care
Weave feel and finish
1. Percale: My personal favorite because its the coolest crispest fabric. Crisp, matte, excellent comfort and breathability. What you find in hotels.
2. Sateen: Silky, smooth and drapey. Nice luxurious feel, might have higher TC.
3. Knit: Soft, Stretchy, T shirt fabric. Many people favor this but some find it too insulating.
Thread count (TC): What Actually Matters:
Thread count refers to the density of the fabric. All you need is 300-400 TC, it's what most hotels use. More than that is marketing hype. Don't fall for it.
More than that is drapier and softer if that is what you want.
Because there are so many factors to consider, it best to try to feel the quality. Even if you have to open the packaging at HomeGoods or wherever............ I never told you that.
Egyptian, Pima, Supima
Other fibers and fabrics to consider for sheets are: Silk, linen

Color Drenching
While beige and taupe are dominating this era of interior design offering soft, serene interiors you might prefer bold and rich colors. Color Drenching is a design technique that encompasses using one bold color that you love and painting all the walls including the ceiling, trim and fixtures. The color could be any color that you absolutely love so choose carefully. Classically, the colors are dark and saturated. Be sure to match window treatments and furniture for a fully immersive feeling. Ideally, the space should be well lit or it could be very dreary. This is very popular and timeless and a great way to express your confidence and boldness. Which of these are your favorites? For more tips on this trend contact me 847-505-4495

Mr. Grey will see you now.............or will he?
Gray has dominated our color paletts for most of the century. The past few years it switched to warmer neutrals, beiges and taupes. These warm hues still dominate while adding your own personality with your favorite accent colors. Of course, pale monochromatic still have their place, but if you have been craving color now is the time to unleash it. Think expressive florals, dramatic jungle prints, chinois and striking geometrics. These patterns and palettes are making a big comeback bringing personality, warmth and energy into our homes. New interior design trend are embracing boldness like never before. You may find a concentrated color drenched walls and ceilings. This creates an immersive and cohesive environment. Super bold and warm.
Don't be afraid to mix things up. Modern design is all about confident creativity.
Which are your favorites?
